What a view!  At 2,100 feet, it is the highest elevation in Knox County.

In the rural area known for its farmland and scenic beauty, Corryton, Tennessee, is also home to House Mountain State Park.  The beautiful mountain can be seen from afar and long before visitors arrive at the base of it.  The familiar scene that is known to Corryton residents can be reached on a drive just outside Knoxville.  The most common route is probably by Rutledge Pike to Idumea Road and then onto Hogskin Road.  House Mountain is popular for its hiking trails.

During Knox County’s Two Centuries celebration in 1992, the House Mountain State Natural Area was among the 52 sites in Knox County that then Knox County Executive Dwight Kessel encouraged Knox Countians to visit.  The compact guide described the mountain in northeast Knox County as looking “like the steeply-pitched roof of a building.”  House Mountain—another gem in East Tennessee’s beautiful landscape of natural resources.

Words of Faith from the Book of Psalms: “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”  Psalm 91:1 (KJV).
