We have the second amendment to protect the first.
Elon Musk

By Dr. Jim Ferguson

Unfortunately, we find ourselves in the season of not one, but multiple October surprises. Many times I’ve asked people whether the internet just makes us more aware of crime, disasters and wars or whether the world is in fact unraveling around us.
I began this essay on the anniversary of Hamas’ October 7 attack on Jews and the world. Twelve hundred Israelis and multinationals were slaughtered, 250 hostages were taken and upwards of 100 are still in captivity – at least their bodies are. If you demand a definition of evil, you have Hamas terrorists as the quintessential example. Hatred is pathological and the calling card of evil. There is no justification or excuse for such wickedness nor condoning such evil. Enough said.
The October surprises just continue to pile up on the feckless Biden and his sidekick. Now the cleanup of Hurricane Milton can be added to the ongoing humanitarian disaster of Helene in the North Carolina mountains, but also in Tennessee and multiple southeastern states. And tragically, our government agencies have failed us again as demonstrated by FEMA and DHS. Fortunately, many charitable agencies are at work in the mountains and across the southeast. Like many others, after careful research, Becky and I donated to relief agencies we trust. I can’t say the same for our government.
Ronald Reagan, who was despised by Democrats, was a great leader and a master storyteller. He once quipped that the nine most dreaded words were, “I’m from the government, and I’m here to help.” Too often we see such prophecies come true. We see failures in our education system which places the US at the bottom of developed countries. We see ruinous printing of money and deficit spending. Our borders are open to criminals and the world. The leadership of the FBI and the Secret Service are either incompetent or corrupt. And the foreign policies of our leaders have led to the ignominious retreat/defeat in Afghanistan and enabled wars in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The primary function of government is to protect the “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” of its citizens. Our leaders don’t get it or don’t care because they are focused on their own power, money and prestige. When Comrade Kamala was recently asked by the harpies of The View whether she would have done anything differently than Joe Biden, Harris replied, “I can’t think of anything.” That says it all, which Biden confirms, stating Kamala Harris is a “major player in everything we’ve done.”
America cannot survive four more years of Harris/Biden policies and leadership. Instead of focusing on hurricanes, the border crisis and the economy (remember Kamala cast the tie-breaking vote for the Inflation Reduction Act which poured gasoline on the inflation fire), Kamala is worried about an “impending humanitarian disaster in Lebanon” (the Middle Eastern country which Hezbollah controls). She plans to send Lebanon an additional $175 million while Americans are still suffering from Hurricane Helene, aka “Kamala’s Katrina.” All the while DHS Mayorkas recently claimed FEMA needs more money after reportedly spending a billion dollars of “relief” money on the immigrant crisis that border czar Harris and Biden created. Incidentally, I’ve come to detest the Democrat’s “immigrant” euphemism for illegal aliens.
Everyone knows of the movie “Top Gun” with Tom Cruise as the protagonist, whose nom de guerre is Maverick. Mr. Webster defines a maverick as an independent individual who does not go along with a group or party.
I thought about mavericks as I watched President Trump’s return to Butler, Pennsylvania, and finish the rally that was interrupted by his attempted assassination and the murder of Corey Comperatore.
Democrats and the corrupt Washington establishment demand conformity and are threatened by Trump who opposes their failing status quo. Trump can’t be bought as so many politicians are. Nor does he need Washington’s notoriety. And because they can’t control him, they have tried everything to destroy him. Melania is right to worry about further murderous attempts on her husband’s life and whether this government can protect him.
We are only three weeks away from the most important election of our lifetime. This is not hyperbole, but a reality. The Democrats and Washington ruling class elites are desperate because their power and control is being threatened. They’ve even had to abandon their mantra of the “threat to democracy” with the forced abdication of Joe Biden and the installation of Comrade Kamala who never received a single vote.
If you doubt that this election is critical, consider the words of Hillary Clinton who fears the Democrats are in danger of “losing control” of internet messaging. Or John Kerry who says we must get rid of the first amendment. Or Tim Walz who says it’s time to get rid of the Electoral College. Your Tennessee vote will be meaningless without the Electoral College because only the votes of the most populous areas of the country, like California and New York, will decide the presidency.
Like Trump, the CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk, is also a maverick. The genius who founded Space X, Neuralink and StarLink is also the free thinker who took away the Democrat’s Twitter mouthpiece, and who now supports Trump. Musk’s speech at the Butler rally was in exuberant support of Donald Trump. Of Elon’s many notable lines, I use one as this essay’s header.
By the time this essay is available, early voting will soon begin in Tennessee on October 16. For nearly six decades I’ve been voting on Election Day, but not this time. DHS Secretary Mayorkas has warned of the threat of voter machine hacking and other mayhem on Election Day, November 5, 2024. Given my suspicion of this shady character and his track record, Becky and I will be voting early to “bank our vote,” and I strongly advise you to do so as well.
Becky has been on a mission to register voters. And we will be taking several carloads of our African friends with us to vote. They came here in 2007 as legal immigrants to escape the Rwandan genocide as depicted in the movie. They have earned their citizenship and now their vote is equal to ours. Elon Musk is also a naturalized citizen. This is what lawful immigration looks like.
In November, we can begin making America great again. I am hopeful, but we MUST SHOW UP and vote for President Trump. If we don’t, “It is finished.”
