The races are just days away!  Hosted by the Corryton Community and Senior Center and Corryton Running Club, the Fourth Annual 8-Miler Race and Third Annual 2-Miler Race in East Tennessee will once again take runners through the heart of Corryton, Tennessee.  There is no shortage of scenic mountain views as runners make their way along the beautiful rural landscape.  Runners will have the opportunity to set state records for both races.  Previously, 14 state records have been set in these races.  Special medals will be awarded to all runners breaking the 8-mile state record and the 2-mile state record.  All participating runners will receive a finisher’s medal.

The biggest beneficiary of the races, however, will be the Corryton Community Food Pantry.  The local pantry has provided food to those in need in the Gibbs, Corryton, and surrounding communities for more than 20 years without the use of governmental funding.  “The funds provided by this event will be used to continue the mission of the food pantry, which is to feed the hungry without turning anyone in need away,” Corryton Community and Senior Center member Joyce Harrell said.  For additional information about the races or sponsorship, contact her at 865-705-7684.
