Spring’s Around the Corner!

By Ralphine Major

It was in early February when we first noticed them.  On a cold Sunday morning, there was lots of chirping coming from the field that was once our orchard.  It was covered with the little birds most often identified by their orange breast.  They are one of the first signs of spring.  In February?  What happened to winter?

The “winter” months brought several days of snow flurries hinting that a snow was coming.  Thus far, we have seen only a few light snows this year.  Mostly, the days designated as winter have been mild and wet.  February brought more historic flooding just as it did last year.  Schools have closed for sickness and rain instead of the usual “snow” days.

The beautiful little robin is a welcome sight, a reminder that winter is almost over.
